Distributional effects of endogenous discounting

چکیده
This paper studies the effect of endogenous discounting on distribution wealth in a Bewley–Huggett economy with an exogenous borrowing constraint. We introduce Koopmans–Uzawa–Epstein time preferences benchmark model Achdou et al. (2022) and investigate implications saving behaviour across different classes. The results highlight self-reinforcing redistribution mechanism, through which can lead to higher equilibrium interest rate more unequal distribution, comparison constant discount rate.

On Optimality, Endogenous Discounting and Wealth Accumulation
We endogenize the discount rate via a broad measure of wealth and provide empirical evidence that wealth affects the discount rate negatively. We demonstrate that the Pontryagin conditions require positive felicity for intuitive results, whereas the concavity of the Hamiltonian requires negative felicity for optimality. This dilemma also holds for the endogenizations of Obstfeld (1990) and foll...
متن کاملThe Fallacy of Endogenous Discounting of Trust Recommendations
Recommendations are widely used in recommender systems, reputation systems, and trust-based security systems. Some existing reputation systems and trust-based security systems use the flawed notion of endogenous discounting. Endogenous discounting is the idea that claims deviating from prior expectations should be ignored or discounted, which introduces confirmation bias. To show the fallacy of...
متن کاملDistributional Effects of FDI
This paper provides a computable general equilibrium analysis of the medium to long-run impact of FDI inflows on poverty and income distribution in Bolivia. The CGE analysis addresses several important transmission channels which have been neglected in the empirical literature by (i) investigating the impact of FDI inflows on incomes of urban and rural households; (ii) taking into account infor...

Much recent research using word recognition paradigms such as lexical decision and speeded pronunciation has investigated how a range of variables affect the location and shape of response time distributions, using both parametric and non-parametric techniques. In the present article, we explore the distributional effects of a word frequency manipulation on fixation durations in normal reading,...
